Piet Oudolf Influences in a Garden

Dutch landscape designer Piet Oudolf’s influence has landed at Lakewold Gardens. Katie Burki, horticulture manager, was taken with some of Oudolf’s gardens and has re-planted the parterres at Lakewold Gardens with Oudolf in mind. Now is a great time to see the early planting of perennials like:

Agapanthus ‘Storm Cloud’

Agastache ‘Apricot Sprite’ parterres 007

Astrantia ‘Snow Star’

Brunnera ‘Jack Frost’

Digitalis obscura ‘Sunset’

Echinacea ‘Coconut Lime’

Echinacea ‘Pink Double Delight’

Geranium ‘Rozanne’

Guara lindheimeri ‘Walsnofou’

By early next summer, the plantings will be filled in and show the Oudolf influence. Piet Oudolf is known for his ‘natural plantings’ and for using unexpected perennials that age gracefully.
